Striker Afonso Alves struck twice to help Al Rayyan thrash Al Ahli in their Qatar Stars League (QSL) clash on Friday.

Alves returned to his vintage best, scoring his first in the 30th minute. The tall Brazilian found the net for the second time four minutes from time. Alves has now scored 12 goals this season.

Striker Leandro Da Silva - who joined Al Rayyan from Al Sadd last week - scored his first goal for his new employers in the 37th minute. Al Rayyan now have 23 points from 15 matches. The Diego Aguirre-coached side is now behind Al Sadd, Lekhwiya and Al Jaish on the points standings. 

Lekhwiya on Saturday have a chance to go ahead of Al Sadd if they beat Al Gharafa. In another clash on Saturday, Qatar SC take on Al Wakra to round off action in week 15.
