DOHA: Al Waab claimed the title of the inaugural edition of the Qatar Amateur League after beating Al Matar 2-0 at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General, Supreme Committee for Delivery andLegacy, crowned the winners alongside Hani Balan, vice president of the Qatar Stars League management.

Al Waab, who dominated the competition since the early stages, have finished with a total of 69 points, eight points clear of second placed Military Command.

Fourteen teams have participated in this first edition of the competition .

Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General, Supreme Committee for Delivery andLegacy said: “We congratulate the three teams who made it to the podium as well as all the other participating teams, they allplayed so well and displayed good sportsmanship.”

He added: “Organizing this tournament showcases QFA’s commitment in nurturing the football culture in Qatar, especially
amongst the youth. It also highlights QFA’s efforts in encouraging the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle through playing football.”
