DOHA: As both teams prepare for the Asian cup to be played in Australia next January, Qatar will host Australia in an international friendly at the Abdullah bin Khalifa stadium.

Led by Djamal Belmadi, Qatar will look forward to maintain their recent impressive form highlighted by the tow big wins over Uzbekistan and Lebanon respectively.

Having utilized a second string line-up against Lebanon, Qatar will likely strive to end this three-friendly week with the inclusion of their main guns who were rested for the 5-0 triumph over Lebanon.

Four days ago, Australia were held to a goalless draw by the UAE, and with a match against Japan looming in November, the Socceroos are determined to win the continental tournament they are hosting for the first time.

But Qatar have to be wary of their opponents who are looking to dominate proceedings. “The teams we played in the World Cup were world class. We competed with them. Now it’s a different situation. Now we are playing against teams that the public or even we see as being able to dominate against them. Like the boss (coach Ange Postecoglou) said we want to be a country that is the best in Asia. And we want to be dominant in that region. That’s what we are working hard to be,” said Australian striker Matthew Leckie.
