Clarifications on the recent media reports concerning the institution of the Technical Advisory Committee to the National Teams:

Recent media reports have been circulated in number of international and local publications concerning the formation of a new Advisor body to the National Teams Committee. The same reports stated that certain international coaching experts have been named to serve as members of that body. In this regard the QFA wishes to clarify the following points:

1- The proposition to form a Technical Advisory body to the National Teams committee have been referenced to our local media by HE Shiekh Hamad bin Khalifah bin Ahmed Al Thani, QFA President , by the time when the new National Teams committee was reformed in recent months. This proposition comes as part of the football development initiatives the QFA planning to introduce to enhance the Qatari football position regionally and worldwide.

2- The mandate, structure and competences of this Advisory Body have been put in blueprint to ensure our teams obtain an utmost benefit. Details on the same will be published once finalized and approved.

3- The QFA have initiated contact with number of football experts, who enjoy both international credibility and knowledge in Qatar football, to serve as members in the mentioned body. However, the final composition is still not finalized and related details will be made available to public in the appropriate timing.

4- Certain distinguished coaching names, such as the Spanish Pep Guardiola and the Italian Fabio Capello, have been reported being named as members of the Advisory Body. Whilst QFA fully recognize and respect the standing and the wealth of football experience these two names enjoy in the world of football, it must be cleared that all the reported stories in this regard are pure media speculations and lack the truth.

5- The QFA recognize the importance of media in playing the role of “supporting partner “to the national football development initiatives. Nonetheless, we expect the media, particularly our local media, to act more cautiously in reporting information that is not sourced through credible sources and is not endorsed by the officials of QFA or its concerned department. Such reports may cause destruction to our teams while they are all due to compete in various regional and international qualifiers.
