DOHA: Lekhwiya goalkeeper Lecoumet Amin on Saturday termed his team’s
Emir Cup win a ‘battle against the odds’.

On Friday, Lekhiwya rallied from a 2-0 deficit to fire two important
goals in the second half of the final at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

After forcing the game into a penalty shootout to determine a winner,
Lekhwiya scored four goals from as many spot kicks while Al Sadd
wasted two of theirs to lose the final.

“It was a battle against the odds. Nobody would have given us a chance
since we were 2-0 down,” Amin said.

“We hung in there and kept fighting. Our players showed great courage
to fight back like this. This is such a great feeling that we never
gave up and kept fighting,” he said.

“It has been an incredible season. We saw many ups and downs and it
feels great that we emerged victorious in the tense final,” he said.

Lekhwiya’s win on Friday was their maiden Emir Cup glory whereas Al
Sadd were denied a hat-trick of title wins on their home soil.

The football season has now come to a close.

The next football season commences on September 15.
